Nyoom privacy policy
Last updated: 13 September 2026
Nyoom is a speedometer and trip logger for Android. This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: Nyoom does not collect, send or share any personal data. Your trips stay on your phone unless you share a GPX file yourself, or Android's own backup copies them to your Google account (see below).
What Nyoom uses
Precise location. Nyoom reads your position and speed from your phone's GPS to show your current speed and, when you start a trip, to record that trip's route, distance, speeds and climb. Location is only read while the speedometer is on screen or while a trip you started is being recorded.
Notifications. While a trip is recording, Nyoom shows a notification with your live speed and Pause / Finish buttons. This is required by Android so that recording can continue with the screen off.
Vibration. Used for the optional speed alert.
What happens to your data
- Your trips and settings are stored on your device, in the app's private storage.
- Nyoom has no internet permission, so it is technically unable to send your data anywhere. The developer never receives your location, trips or settings.
- There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party SDKs that collect data.
- Android backup. If backup to your Google account is switched on in your phone's settings, Android can copy Nyoom's data (your trips, including their routes, and your settings) to your Google account. Android does this, not Nyoom. On Android 9 and later the backup is end-to-end encrypted when your phone has a screen lock (PIN, pattern or password). You can switch backup off in your phone's settings.
- New phone. Android's phone-to-phone transfer can copy the same data to your new phone.
- You choose when to share a trip: the GPX export only creates a file when you tap Share.
Deleting your data
You can delete any single trip from its page, or all trips from Settings → Your data → Delete all trips. Uninstalling the app removes all of its data from the device. Android keeps only its latest backup of the app, so deleted trips drop out of it the next time Android backs Nyoom up. (Android stops making new backups of an app whose data grows past 25 MB, which takes several hundred hours of recorded trips; its last backup then stays as it was.)
Children
Nyoom is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone.
